The History

On a trip to Cape Town we visited Boulders Beach a small town known for its large penguin colony.

Its name comes about from the sheltering of the beach from the inlets of granite boulders African penguins began to settle in the area around 1982. This beach forms part of the, Table Mountain National Park.

Located out on the Cape Peninsula, in Simon’s Town about a 45 minute drive from the city.

The penguins are not one bit afraid of you and will wonder around going about there day. and give some great opportunities for a photo. They can even be very entertaining running around and playing around with each other.

The area itself is a small little town known as Simon’s Town lined with street sellers, restaurants and cafes. A great place to enjoy as part of a tour or even if you wish to drive out. We opted for a full day by adding another trip because there is loads to do in the area.

The Tour

So how did we see it?

We did a guided tour, which we found was great and highly informative. The guides were knowledgeable and because of this would highly recommend this company below, it’s so worth doing it right. They also had some goods deals incorporating the seals and penguins tours.

City sightseeing

Note: this was the same company we did the Cape Point tour with.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to have a look, there would be plenty more to come. But for now it’s goodbye.
