Jimbaran Bali

Jimbarans Quaint Fishing Village

Jimbaran is a small fishing village just south of Kuta on the Island of Bali.

A beach front lined with the best fish restaurants who have the pick of the freshest fish direct from there front garden.

I remember feasting on fresh snapper taken only moments from sea, and occompanied by a selection of Indonesian salads and rice.

The sunsets here are remarkable, I love the few remaining fishing boats in the background in the photo above, and the deep dense cloud of which was probably a a tropical storm rolling in.

Roscommon Ireland

Irelands Midwest Farmlands

Roscommon is a rural and one of the smallest counties. Known for its vast amounts of farmland, cattle and beautiful landscape.

Roscommon, Ireland

It would only be fitting for this sunset to be across a field with cattle roaming around. Showing the beauty of the countryside.

Zambezi Zimbabwe

The Zambezi River is the fourth largest river in Africa, and with a 550 kilometer stretch of it serving as a border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. One of it most popular aspects is that it links up to the wonder of the world the Victoria Falls.

Aboard the Zaambezi River

We took a sunset cruise aboard the Ra-Ikane River cruise. Sailing down the Zambezi with a beautiful clear night and ending with the final part of the cruise docked in the middle of the river to view this sublime sunset below.

Mekong Delta, Vietnam

The Mekong Delta is a network of tributaries in southwest Vietnam, between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia. The Mekong delta region encompasses a large portion of southwestern Vietnam of over 40,500 square kilometres.

This beautiful sunset on the mekong was breathtaking. the slow nature of the sail and the peace and quiet around from what is normally and fast and furious and overcrowded river.

Kilronan Castle

Kilronan Castle Estate

The Kilronan Castle Estate in Co Roscommon Ireland is a 40 acre piece of land on Lough Meelagh and since 2006 has been converted into a hotel and Spa.

With walkways through the castle grounds along rivers and walkways makes this area an extra special stay, or a place to visit during the day.

The lake at Kilronan Castle

Sunsets at Kilronan fall over Lough Meelagh and the river walk is the best point to see them and as you can see in the photo the sunset is just beautiful.

Byron Bay, Australia

Although the sun sets to the west on the east coast, Byron Bay is on a point and with this there are a few cove which look back out west like this one above.

The beautiful clear water and rainforest backdrop make this a perfect sunset.

Top 5 Sunsets From Around The World

Top 5 Sunsets

If there is one thing we love on our travels is great sunsets. There is nothing more relaxing than kicking back and watching a beautiful sunset. And to photo a sunset and to have that ultimate picture is amazing. Below is our top 5 from our travels around the world.

This one was taken from the beach at the ever popular fishing village of Jimbaran in Bali, Indonesia.

A great shot and that red sky just enhances it even more and adds a bit of drama.

Sabi Sands

Whilst on Safari we got to jump out of the 4 by 4’s and relax with a beer and watch this sunset out in the middle of the reserve. One of the most unreal and secluded places we could have experienced this only added to how great it was. So relaxing and once in a life time sunsets you could ever imagine.

To be honest this photo doesn’t do it justice at all it really needs to be seen in the moment.

Sabi Sands

Victoria Falls

Whilst in Victoria Falls we enjoyed evening drinks and yet another beautiful one whilst aboard the Ra Ikane sunset cruise. The sun sets behind the waterline with no sound just crashing water and the clinking of glasses, no better way to unwind

The setting sun, brought an evening of calm and we never wanted to get off and would certainly go back.

Victoria Falls

Kilronan Castle

We had a night away at Kilronan Castle in County Roscommon, Ireland. And we went for a pre dinner walk around the lake. A beautiful walk takes you alongside the lake a walk well worth the trip to see this stunning sunset.

One of my favourite photos to date, the shine of the lake is just stunning, which just added to these beautiful grounds.

Kilronan Castle

Gold Coast

The Gold Coast always delivers at sunset with its 300 plus days of sun it’s hard not to make the list

Here we were at the Miami / North Burleigh lookout is one of the best offerings on the east coast of Australia.

The straight look back across the coast for as far as the eye can see is just picture perfect.

Gold Coast

We certainly could never get old of these sunsets and i think no matter where you ae in the world you would just take in the beauty of it.

Zambezi River Cruise

Zambezi river cruise

On our first night in Victoria falls Zimbabwe after arriving after lunch we wondered what we would do for the evening. We had a chat with our host on what there is to do and they told us about the Zambezi river cruise at sunset, with drinks and nibbles. Cruise, sunset and drinks, now we were sold straight away with the added aspect of the sound of Victoria Falls in the background.

So we booked with the Ra-Ikane River Cruises, because it was recommend to us by our hotel. We were picked up promptly and taking down to the dock, where we boarded this beautiful little boat. We got comfy, we served some drinks we had nibbles given to us and we were ready to head off down the Zambezi.

A Brief History Of The Zambezi River

Zambezi river meaning ‘Great River” is the fourth largest river in Africa. It flows through an amazing six countries, and is an amazing 2700 km long. Only the Nile, Congo and Niger rivers are bigger.

Back To The Cruise

Now where were we? We set off down the Zambezi cruise sipping on my local Zambezi beer and Michelle a craft gin and if I remember rightly we had like a homemade lemonade to refresh the pallet in between.

The bar on board
Trying the local beer
If I remember it was a homemade lemonade

The views down the Zambezi were incredible, such a vast open space and everything looking so green and beautiful.

Spotting Hippos

A little while in we came across a group of hippos swimming around. This was the first point of our whole Africa trip we saw animals in tbe wild. We were so excited. Below you can see them swimming around ducking in and out of the water. Trying to get a photo was difficult, it was as if they were having a game with us up and and up and up down.

floating around Hippos

After we saw the hippos we headed back down the Zambezi and pretty much straight away came across a giant crocodile. He was just chilling out on the bank soaking up some sun. This was an amazing spotting, you see them in a zoo but to see in the wild in the own habitat it just fascinating.

Crocodile spotting

Time to watch the sunset

We carried on the rest of the journey and relaxed with a couple more drinks and then came the sunset. I have experienced some sunsets but this one was just beautiful. We felt so relaxed and after the excitement of our spotting to such a tranquil setting it was just perfect end.

That sun on the water

The Ra Ikane River Cruise Company

These guys were amazing from start to finish. The guide was amazing and the so knowledgeable. They were accommodating and made time to have a chat and find out a bit about us, which added such a personal touch. A certain must for a Victoria Falls cruise.

Our choice was the sunset cruise but there is also an option of a breakfast cruise, a lunch cruise and birdwatch cruise.

They came to us by recommendation of our hotel Ilala Lodge and was a great recommendation indeed. The Ra Ikane certainly know what they are doing and make the cruise extremely enjoyable.

All up we paid $84 USD per person for a 2 hour cruise sunset cruise. For all other prices please check this website above.

More from Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is a beautiful destination and home of this fine Zambezi river. Staying here for a few days is a great choice and you should look no further than the Ilala Lodge. This hotel being the closet to the falls offers great relaxation and top quality hosting.

There are many things to do around Victoria Falls. You can catch our Guide on the best of them. But we certainly recommend a helicopter ride over the falls and the walking tracks around the Falls. Two musts on a visit to theis beautiful destination.
