Signal Bar Restaurant Clifden Review

Insight

The Signal bar restaurant Clifden is part of the Clifden Staion House Hotel. The venueis located in the the Old station masters building and still respects the history of this once steam train station.

The building still has old all the old station signs and memorabilia inside and out.for any train enthusiasts there is also a museum of the old train station across the courtyard.

Inside the building they have kept the keeping of the history alive also with the history of the building running throughout the restaurant. A very modern and sleek industrial feel.

The hotel does have a restaurant side and menu but we opted for the bar food.

The Drinks

The Signal Bar restaurant Clifden has an impressive list of tap beers with international and crafts available . Opting myself to sample the Morretti beer which was a great choice. A fine wine list was available with ample options to choose from, we chose the a bottle of Tempranillo. Opened at the table and we were allowed to taste. A great wine nice and light, smooth and easy drinking.

The Food

Looking through the menu there where plenty of bar classics and was delighted to see with Clifden”s prominent coastal location plenty of seafood options including mussels, scallops and locally caught line fish to name a few.

For starters we opted for the tomato and haloumi brushetta. Generous in size and very tasty, accompanying salad was great and wife’s words one of the best tabbouleh I have ever had. Very well seasoned and packed with flavour.

Haloumi and tomato brushetta

For mains it was two opposites why I opted for the handmade burger, Michelle went with the Vegan Ragout.

The burger was delicious nice and juicy and very flavoursome beef, with all the trimmings inside, accompanied with a nice salad and chips. Can certainly say I was full after.

As for the Vegan ragout it was full of flavour, with lots of delicious herbs and spices.
